#24 Men’s Cross Country Takes First Place at Aldrich Invitational

Alec Gironda was first to cross the finish line, as the #24 Middlebury men's cross country team took home the title at its own Aldrich Invitational. The Panthers placed five runners in the top 10.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Middlebury won the meet with a total of 23 points, Union finished in second (44 points), while Plattsburgh State rounded out the top-three teams (76 points). 
  • Gironda took home the title, stopping the clock at 19:57.1.
  • Shef West finished second in his first collegiate race, recording a time of 20:08.1.
  • Zander Kessler and Owen Johnson placed fourth and sixth, respectively, crossing the line with times of 20:15.8 and 20:18.9.
  • Peter Burke completed the scoring for the Panthers, finishing in 10th (20:39.6).
NOTES
  • Gironda's victory was the second-straight individual title in as many weeks.
  • Middlebury won its second-consecutive meet and its 11th Aldrich title in the last 12 years.
  • Four Middlebury alumni competed in the event, with Nathan Hill finishing the quickest with a time of 20:37.9.
