Panthers Tie For Second At Duke Nelson Invitational

Sean McGarrity led the Panthers, tying for fifth place.
The Middlebury men's golf team had its best finish since 2016 at the 38th Annual Duke Nelson Invitational, finishing in a tie for second place. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute won the event with a two-day total of 590, while the Panthers and Trinity were just behind with 591.

  HIGHLIGHTS
  • Middlebury led the event after the first day of competition, and was the only team with to shoot below 300 (293) on Saturday.
  • Sean McGarrity led the Panthers, tying for fifth place with a two-day total of 146 (72, 74). 
  • On Saturday, Hogan Beazley tied for first place with an even par 71, tallying four birdies. He finished the invite in a tie for seventh place with a score of 147. 
  • Phin Choukas was even over the two-day span, tallying a final score of 149 (75, 74) to tie for 17th. 
  • Colin McCaigue was the fourth scorer for Middlebury, starting and ending the invite with strong performances. He recorded birdies on holes one and two on Saturday, and closed out the weekend with birdies on the final two holes. 
  • Panther Paul Fine-Lease rounded out the group with a score of 152 (75, 77) to tie for 28th place.
