Ziggy Goddard finished seventh in the 3,000m steeplechase.
The Middlebury men's track and field team produced stellar efforts on Saturday, highlighted by a school-record run from
Quinlan McGaugh during the second day of the 2022 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championship. The meet hosted by Bryant University featured competition from all three NCAA divisions, with the top-eight finishers earning All-New England honors. Middlebury collected 21 team points, finishing in a tie for 15th place out of 40 teams. Southern Connecticut State earned the team title (170.5 points), followed by the University of Rhode Island (114 points) and UMass Amherst (52 points).
McGaugh finished third in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:49.93, eclipsing the program mark of 3:50.65 set by teammate
Max Cluss during the team's spring trip to California. McGaugh's time was a personal best by more than four seconds. Cluss also competed in the event on Saturday, crossing the line in 15th place (3:53.47)
Peter Hansen ran to fifth place in the 400m hurdles, stopping the clock in 53.45. That mark betters his preliminary time from Friday by 0.02 seconds. Saturday's run is the 18th-best clocking in Division III this spring.
Ziggy Goddard also earned All-New England accolades for Middlebury, finishing seventh in the 3,000m steeplechase (9:43.10).
