Middlebury had a limited number of student-athletes compete on Friday during the opening day of the 2022 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Men's Track and Field Championship, but they made the most of those opportunities with three top-10 finishes and another runner advancing to the finals.
The two-day meet hosted by Bryan University with teams from all three NCAA divisions participating, concludes on Saturday with action starting at 10:00 a.m.
The top-eight finishers in each event over the two-day meet earned All-New England honors.
Alec Gironda competed in the longest event of the night, placing fifth overall in the 10,000-meters with a time of 31:15.84 to garner All-New England recognition.
Peter Hansen had a strong showing in the 400m hurdles, taking fifth among 31 runners with a time of 53.47 seconds. That clocking earned him a spot in Saturday's final.
Luke Lorenz and Alexander Kessler each earned All-New England honors with strong performances in the 5,000m. Lorenz placed sixth with a clocking of 14:55.24, followed immediately by Kessler (14:55.42).Â
