The fifth-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team will make its 17th trip to the NCAA Tournament when the squad travels to Pittsburgh for a regional from May 12-14 hosted by #11 Carnegie Mellon. North Central (Ill.) and Franciscan will play on Thursday with the winner to play Middlebury on Friday, while the host Tartans will battle the victorious team of the other first-round match between Hope and Cairn. Friday's winners will square off in the regional final on Saturday with a trip to the quarterfinals on the line.

#5 Middlebury (15-5)
Team Highlights
- Earned an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament
- The Panthers are seeking their first national title.
- Finished the regular season with a 9-1 mark in the NESCAC.
- Had a nine-match winning streak snapped before falling in the NESCAC Championship match to third-ranked Wesleyan, 5-4.
- Have played 11 nationally-ranked opponents this season, posting a 7-4 record.
- Sahana Raman was the runner-up in the ITA Cup Singles final and has been victorious in eight-straight matches entering postseason play.
- Claudia Miller has won 21 matches this season and had a 10-match winning streak.
- Miller has teamed up with Raman in doubles, earning a 17-5 record. The pair has won 10-straight matches.
#11 Carnegie Mellon (15-6)
Team Highlights
- The appearance in the postseason event will be the 16th for the program.
- Earned an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament.
- Finished in sixth place during the 2022 ITA Women's National Team Indoor Championship.
- Sarah Yang has an impressive 25-4 record, mainly in the top spot, and is 15-2 in dual matches with eight-straight wins.
- Crystal Zhou is also north of the 20-win plateau as an individual (21-8).
- Lindy Cornwall has won 11-straight matches and is 19-7.
- The duo of Cornwall and Bin Zheng is 23-8.
North Central (Ill.) (21-5)
Team Highlights
- Playing in the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight season.
- The Cardinals beat Wheaton 5-0 in the championship match of the CCIW Automatic Qualifying Tournament.
- Set a program single-season record with 21 wins.
- Started the season with a 14-match winning streak.
- Kaeli Smashey and Sydney Sawyer each have 14 wins individually in the top and bottom spots of the lineup, respectively.
- The tandem of Natalie Bassett and Smashey have earned 10-straight victories in the second position with a 20-2 record.
Franciscan (Ohio) (15-4)
Team Highlights
- Franciscan is making their sixth trip to the NCAA Tournament.
- They have won seven conference Championships in their 12 years of NCAA Division III competition, including back-to-back PAC Championships.
- Went 7-0 during PAC action en route to the PAC title last fall.
- Swept the PAC Awards, as Olivia Colby(10-9) earned Newcomer of the Year, Maria Herrera (14-4) was Player of the Year, and Head Coach Scott Greve won Coach of the Year.
- Have not played a match since March 25 at Wittenberg.
- Colby and Herrera have posted a 10-2 record in the top doubles slot.
Hope (18-7)
Team Highlights
- 12th trip to the regional round and 16th NCAA Championships appearance.
- The MIAA regular-season and tournament champions, winning the MIAA Tournament for a league-record 10th-consecutive time with a 5-0 victory over Kalamazoo.
- Won an MIAA record-setting 28 league titles over the program's history.
- Claimed 10-straight victories entering the national tournament, including six of those while holding the opposition without a point.
- Sydney Jackson is the reigning two-time MIAA Most Valuable Player and is 16-8 in the top spot and has won nine-straight matches.
- Jackson and doubles partner Sullivan Patel are All-MIAA First-Team selections.
Cairn (20-1)
Team Highlights
- Earned the CSAC automatic bid with a 5-0 victory over Cedar Crest.
- Claimed their third-straight CSAC Title and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the third-straight year.
- Didn't drop a single matchup in conference play, winning all 54 points in six conference matches.
- Come into the NCAA Tournament riding a 14-match winning streak
- Paige Kemper is the CSAC Player of the Year and All-CSAC First Team at singles for the second-straight season, posting a 15-2 record in the top spot.
- The Highlanders went a combined 96-14 in singles play this season and 53-8 in doubles.
