Quinlan McGaugh finished second in Saturday's 800-meter run.
The Middlebury men's track and field team competed in the non-scoring Amherst Spring Fling on Saturday, picking up an event win and numerous top-three finishes. The Panthers return to action next weekend when it competes in the two-day Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College.
Gardner Olson paced the efforts with a win during the javelin, with a top toss of 47.63m.
Walker Coleman was second in the triple jump (12.20m), while
Daniel Brey equaled that place in the hammer throw with a heave of 46.47m.
Samuel Maxwell finished as the runner-up in the discus (39.57m), while
Dan Urchuk was next in third (37.74m).
Logan Cosgrove finished third in the shot put with a toss of 12.08m.
On the track,
Quinlan McGaugh crossed the finish line second in the 800-meter run (1:56.60), while
Xander Swann was second during the 400m hurdles (56.18) and
Jack Rudnick stopped the clock as the runner-up in the 3,000m steeplechase (10:45.75). The 4x100m relay quartet of
Nadji Ngbokoli, Swann,
Daryl Edwards and
Jefferson Hill claimed second place (42.86).
Additional top-three efforts were recorded by
Marco Motroni in the 100m (11.26),
Connor Randall during the 400m (50.54) and Hill in the 110m hurdles (15.85).
