Dave Filias finished as the runner-up in the hammer throw.
The Middlebury men's track & field team finished in third place during Saturday's NESCAC Championships. Tufts claimed the team title with 177.5 points, while Williams was a close second with 164 points, followed by the Panthers (91.5 points). The meet was hosted by Hamilton, with the events taking place at the Pritchard Track. The top-three finishers and relay squads in each event garnered All-NESCAC honors.
Max Cluss and
Dave Filias led the Panther men with runner-up finishes. Cluss crossed the finish line with a time of 3:52.60 in the 1,500-meter. Filias posted a personal-best record of 156'3" in the hammer throw, besting his previous mark by nearly seven feet.
Peter Hansen,
Alexander Kessler and
Sam McGarrahan also earned All-NESCAC laurels with third-place finishes. Hansen recorded a time of 54.81 in the 400m hurdles, while Kessler crossed the line with a time of 14:45.44 in the 5,000m. McGarrahan cleared the bar in the high jump at a career-best height of 6'2.75".
The 4x400m relay team of
Xander Swann, Hansen,
Colin Breen and
Finn Warner stopped the clock with a third-place time of 3:23.12 to earn All-Conference laurels.
The Panthers had a trio of individuals record top-four finishes.
Ziggy Goddard lowered his collegiate-best time by 5.36 seconds in the 3,000m steeplechase with a clocking of 9:34.45.
Quinlan McGaugh erased 1.02 seconds from his previous personal-best time in the 1,500m, crossing the line in 3:54.09.
Daniel Brey also scored points for Middlebury, posting a distance of 151'0" in the hammer.
The 4x800m relay team of
Will Lavey,
Peter Burke,
Johnny LaFortune and Cluss collected a fourth-place showing with a combined time of 7:54.73.
