Men's Golf Starts Spring Season At Fred Kravetz Invitational

Phin Choukas posted the best score of the day for the Panthers.
The Middlebury men's golf team kicked off its spring season with the opening day of the Fred Kravetz Invitational hosted by the University of Rochester at the Irondequoit Country Club. The Panthers sit in eighth place following day one contested on the 6,832-yard par 72 course with a team score of 340. Middlebury returns to action Saturday at the par-71 Oak Hill Country Club. 
 
Phin Choukas posted the best score of the day for the Panthers, shooting identical 41s on both sides for an 82. Kenneth Dieker fired an 85, including a birdie on his first hole of the day.  Colin McCaigue was right behind with an 86 and had birdies on holes seven and 18. Sean McGarrity completed the Middlebury scorers with an 87, posting a birdie on his third hole of the round. Hogan Beazley rounded out the Panther squad with a 92.
 
The host Yellowjackets lead after the first day with a score of 307, while Rochester's Nishant Datta sits atop the individual leaderboard with a 73.
