Middlebury women's squash rookie
Abby Holding competed on day one of the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships as the 14th seed in the Holleran Cup North bracket. The three-day event is being held at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia. The first-year Panther and All-NESCAC First-Team selection returns to action on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the finals, as she won by default in the semifinals on Saturday.
Squaring off in the morning against Drexel's Margot Prow, the third seed in the draw, Holding fell in three games (11-1, 11-6, 11-2). Scheduled to take part in the consolation quarterfinal, Holding advanced to the semifinals after the University of Pennsylvania's Yoshna Singh defaulted. Holding will take on the winner of the match between Bowdoin's Amanda Cowhey and Dickinson's Amna Fayyaz on Saturday morning.
