Box Score The 10th-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team (5-1) netted its second-straight victory in California on Tuesday, as the Panthers took down Concordia University Irvine (CUI) by the score of 6-1. The Eagles (7-7) are a Division II school, which awards one point for best-of-three in doubles, and an individual point for each singles match. The Panthers travel to Claremont, California to take on #3 Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. EST.
Middlebury had a clean sweep of the doubles competition, with the top pairing of Gena Huang and Amy Delman cruising to a 6-1 win. At #2, Claudia Miller and Sahana Raman earned a 6-2 triumph, while the tandem of Amanda Frank and Kavina Amin posted a 6-3 victory in the third position.
CUI tied the score at 1-1 with a win at #1 singles, but Middlebury reclaimed the lead thanks to a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 decision by Amin in the second spot. The Panthers finished off the Eagles in quick fashion, as Caitlin Neal battled back from a one-set deficit to post a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory at #4, before Frank won in three sets (6-3, 2-6, 6-3) in the third position for the deciding point with a 4-1 advantage.
Middlebury closed the match out with Nora Dahl earning a 6-2, 6-1 win at #6 and Nina Farhat claiming a victory in the fifth slot with a three-set triumph.
