Box Score 2 The Middlebury women's tennis team split their squad and played Chapman University and Cal State Los Angeles (LA) on its first day of spring break in California. The 10th-ranked Panthers head to Santa Barbara on Monday for a 2:00 p.m. eastern match at Westmont College.
In the contest against Chapman, Middlebury took all three doubles points.
Sahana Raman and
Nathalie van der Reis cruised 8-2 in the second slot, while the duo of
Amy Delman and
Gena Huang won 8-5 at #1.
Nora Dahl and
Nina Farhat earned an 8-4 victory in the third spot. Farhat was flawless in her singles debut, winning 6-1, 6-1 at #6. Delman (6-1, 6-3), Huang (6-3, 6-4),
Claudia Miller (6-4, 6-2) and van der Reis (7-6, 6-0) each won in straight sets.
In Middlebury's match at Cal State LA, the scoring defaulted to the Division II rules where one point was awarded for doubles and one point per singles match. The host school won the point in doubles with victories at #1 and #3. In singles,
Sami Remis triumphed 6-3, 6-3 in the second slot to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Golden Eagles won in the fourth and third spots for the 4-1 lead.
Amanda Frank cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 at #5 to bring the Panthers back within two, but Cal State LA eased to a 5-2 victory.
