Kessler won the 5,000 with a personal-best time.
The Middlebury men's outdoor track and field team recorded several top-10 finishes at the Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) Ross and Sharon Irwin Collegiate Meet in California. The Panthers will compete at PLNU on Saturday in the Collegiate Open.
Max Cluss crossed the finish line first in the 1,500-meter run. His time of 3:50.65 broke the meet record of 3:51.94, a time recorded by Middlebury's Jack Davies back in 2013. Cluss lowered the school record in the event of 3:50.84 set by Jonathan Perlman in 2019.
Quinlan McGaugh finished fifth in the event with a clocking of 3:56.35. McGaugh also placed fifth in the 800 with a time of 1:56.42.
Alexander Kessler recorded a personal-best time of 14:24.88 in the 5,000 to win the event.
Drew Donahue was right behind in fourth with a clocking of 14:36.91.
Other top-10 finishes came from
Connor Randall in the 400m (sixth) with a time of 50.55,
Caleb Fineske in the triple jump with a mark of 12.84m and
Santi Canella who finished in eighth place in the 400 with a time of 50.55.
