Middlebury jumped out to a 2-1 edge with a pair of victories in doubles action. The top tandem of
Amy Delman and
Gena Huang cruised to an 8-3 triumph, while
Nathalie van der Reis and
Sahana Raman earned an 8-4 win in the third slot.
Brinlea La Barge and
Sami Remis battled at #2, but eventually fell 8-7 to Tufts.
The Jumbos grabbed the first point in singles with a victory in the top spot, before Middlebury took a 3-2 edge when La Barge earned a three-set triumph in the fourth spot (4-6, 6-1, 6-0). The Panther lead grew to 4-2 behind a 6-3, 7-5 win by van der Reis in the sixth slot. Huang clinched the match for the hosts, battling back from a set down for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory in the second position.
Delman gave Middlebury a 6-2 edge with a 6-4, 6-4 win in the third spot, while Remis dropped a three-set decision at #5 (4-6, 6-4, 10-3) for the final 6-3 score.
