Peter Wolter earned First-Team All-American honors during Saturday's 20K freestyle to lead the Middlebury Nordic squad on the third and final day of the NCAA Championships. The Nordic and alpine squads combined for a 10th-place finish with 209.5 points. Utah, the host school, won the championship with 578 points, while the University of Vermont (511.5 points) and Denver (436.5 points) rounded out the top-three teams.
Wolter collected All-American honors for the second time this week, placing fifth on Saturday to earn first-team laurels. The race down the home stretch was tightly contested with Wolter clocking in at 43:15.8, just one second behind the fourth-place finisher and less than two seconds out of third. A mere 15 seconds spanned the top-five finishers as Ben Ogden of UVM recorded a winning time of 43:00.5.
Sam Hodges and
Willson Moore also battled to the finish line, placing 31st (45:35.9) and 32nd (45:36.8), respectively.
Charlotte Ogden led the way on the women's side, placing 31st with a clocking of 41:49.7.
Avery Ellis was three spots back, covering the 15K freestyle course in 43:10.9.
