The Middlebury men's squash team (4-10) finished in fourth place at the NESCAC Championship this weekend. The seventh-seeded Panthers blanked 10th-seeded Connecticut College 9-0 in the first round, before upsetting second-seeded Tufts 5-4 in quarterfinal action. Middlebury fell 7-2 to third-seeded Bowdoin in the semifinals.
In the third-place match on Sunday, the Panthers were edged 5-4 by fifth-seeded Bates.
Nate Moll and
Julian Sandoval cruised past their opponents with 3-0 victories. Moll was victorious by scores of 11-8, 11-7, 11-7 in the fourth spot, while Sandoval won 11-4, 11-8, 11-5 at #6.
Alexis Ballo tallied a point in the seventh spot with scores of 11-9, 15-13, 7-11, 11-8. At #2,
Nathan Feinstein won in exciting fashion, edging his opponent 3-2 (8-11, 11-7, 7-11, 11-9, 11-6).
All five points earned by the Bobcats were tight 3-2 victories.
