Max Cluss won two events during Saturday's competition.
The Middlebury men's indoor track and field team turned in strong performances on Saturday, competing at the Tufts Cupid Challenge in Massachusetts. It was a non-scoring meet, featuring numerous programs from New England. The Panthers return to action next weekend, competing in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.
Max Cluss tallied a pair of victories for the Panthers. Cluss won the mile in 4:14.55, while teammate
Quinlan McGaugh crossed the finish line next in third place (4:18.57). Cluss also claimed the 1,000-meter run with a mark of 2:31.79.
Other top-four finishes on the track came from
Alexander Kessler, who finished second in the 5,000m with a time of 14:43.63, while
Ziggy Goddard was third in 14:58.04.
Peter Hansen crossed the line in second during the 600m (1:24.52), while
Colin Breen was third (1:24.68). The 4x400m relay team of
Xander Swann, Hansen, Breen and
Connor Randall posted a runner-up effort with a clocking of 3:26.85.
Caleb Fineske was fourth in the long jump with a mark of 21'10", while he matched that finish in the triple jump with a leap of 42'7.50".
Sam McGarrahan finished in fourth in the high jump with a height of 6"0.75".
