The seventh-seeded Middlebury men's squash team (3-8) dropped just one game en route to a 9-0 shutout against 10th-seeded Connecticut College (2-9) in the first round of the NESCAC Tournament on Friday evening. The Panthers will make their 13th-straight appearance in the NESCAC Quarterfinals when they take on second-seeded Tufts at noon at Trinity on Saturday.
Julian Sandoval opened the scoring with a clean sweep (11-3, 11-5, 11-0) in the sixth spot.
PK Keller followed at #8 (11-3, 11-2, 11-4), with
Carter Joyce right behind in the ninth slot (11-1, 11-1, 11-2).
Will Lichstein won by scores of 11-3, 11-3, 11-9 to earn the fourth point at #3, before
Alexis Ballo clinched the match with a shutout in the seventh spot (11-3, 11-6, 11-3).
Teddy Best got out to a good start at the top of the ladder, claiming the first pair of games by scores of 11-8 and 11-3. He fell 11-7 in the third game, but came back to win the match with an 11-4 victory in the fourth game.
Nate Moll (11-2, 11-2, 11-1),
Omar Ahmed Nemr (11-2, 11-5, 11-7) and
Nathan Feinstein (12-10, 11-3, 11-8) rounded out the scoring with victories at #4, #5 and #2, respectively.
