Panthers Kick Off Day One Of EISA Championships

Quincy Massey-Bierman was the third scorer for Middlebury, clocking in at 47:42.8.
The Middlebury alpine and Nordic ski teams opened the New Hampshire Carnival/EISA Championships with a strong performance, as the squad sits in fourth place with 345 points. The University of Vermont leads after day one of competition with 476 points, while Dartmouth (391 points) and the University of New Hampshire (384 points) round out the top-three.

Action resumes on Saturday with the women's 5K and the men's 10K classic races at the Jackson Cross Country Center, while the slalom will take place at Cannon Mountain/Mittersill.

In the Nordic men's 20K freestyle, Middlebury turned in a strong performance, placing all three scorers in the top 15. Peter Wolter led the group with a fourth-place effort in 52:14.3, while Sam Hodges completed the course in 54:51.5 to place 12th. Willson Moore was next with a clocking of 54:52.2.

In the women's 15K freestyle, Avery Ellis was 20th in 45:48.7, while Charlotte Ogden was the second Panther to cross the finish line in 45:59.7 (26th). Quincy Massey-Bierman took 34th, finishing in 47:42.8.

In the men's slalom, Justin Alkier placed 13th, completing his two-strips down the mount in 1:31.32. Bradshaw Underhill followed, tying for 14th-place with a two-run time of 1:31.69. Michel Macedo rounded out the scorers with a 22nd-place finish (1:32.51).

The Panther women excelled in the slalom, with Lucia Bailey leading the group with a third-place effort (1:41.92). Mika-Anne Reha was next in sixth(1:42.37), while Sofia Yubero finished with a two-run time of 1:43.77 to place 11th.
