24th-Ranked Middlebury Edged By #18 Brown In CSA Consolation Final

Alex Stimpson posted a four-game victory Sunday at #9.

The 24th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team (5-12) dropped a 5-4 decision to #18 Brown (7-6) on Sunday in the consolation final of the Summers Cup Division at the College Squash Association (CSA) Championships. The Panthers will wait to hear who will compete in the CSA Individual Championships to be played March 4-6 at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia.

Middlebury claimed the first point with a four-game victory (11-8, 2-11, 11-7, 11-6) by Alex Stimpson at #9. The Bears took a 3-1 lead with wins at #1, #4 and #3, with the latter two coming in four games. Alexis Ballo brought the Panthers to within one (3-2), recording a 3-0 triumph (13-11, 11-5, 11-8) in the seventh spot.

Brown clinched the victory with triumphs at #5 and #2.

Julian Sandoval cruised for Middlebury at #6 shutting out his opponent 3-0 (11-3, 11-0, 11-0), while teammate PK Keller concluded the scoring with a narrow four-game win (9-11, 11-9, 15-13, 13-11) in the eighth slot for the final 5-4 score.
