Will Nemeth took seventh in the 20K freestyle on Saturday.
The Middlebury alpine and Nordic ski teams wrapped up the two-day Middlebury Carnival on Saturday, placing second with 865 points, trailing only Vermont (1,034). In the giant slalom, the Panthers finished one-two on the men's side with Justin Alkier taking the top spot on the podium and Bradshaw Underwood was the runner-up.
The Panther alpine team competes again on Sunday, hosting a giant slalom NCAA Individual Qualifier, while the Nordic team awaits next weekend's New Hampshire Carnival/EISA Championships.
In the Nordic men's 20K freestyle, Middlebury had an impressive showing, led by
Peter Wolter's third-place performance in 52:28.5.
Will Nemeth completed the course in 54:19.4 to place seventh, while
Logan Moore was next to cross the finish line with a clocking of 54:32.2.
In the women's 15K,
Quincy Massey-Bierman was the top Panther finisher, placing 19th overall in 49:09.4.
Avery Ellis was next to complete the course for Middlebury, taking 26th in 49:31.8, while
Charlotte Ogden was 29th (50:12.2).
Alkier won the men's GS with a time of 2:00.45, while Underwood was next in 2:00.98 to claim the second spot. Axel Bailey rounded out the scoring for the hosts with a time of 2:03.62 to place 12th.
The Panther women shined in the GS, as Lucia Bailey was the first Middlebury athlete to cross the finish line. Bailey was fifth in a two-run time of 2:06.67, while Yubero finished one spot later with a time of 2:07.30. Alexandra Cossette also placed in the top 10, claiming eighth place in 2:07.76.
