Several Personal Bests Recorded On Day Three Of NESCAC Championships

Jack Undercofler recorded a personal best time in the 100 backstroke.
Several members of the Middlebury men's swimming and diving team recorded personal-best times during the third day of action at the NESCAC Championships. The squad currently sits in eighth place with 448 points, while Williams leads the field of 11 teams with 1,487 points. The Panthers compete in the final day of the NESCAC Championships on Sunday with preliminaries beginning at 10:00 a.m. 
 
Riley Griffis placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall with an NCAA 'B' cut time of 1:39.59. 
 
The 200 medley relay quartet of Chris Weber, Bryan Chang, Isaac Esposito and Jake Gaughan clocked in at 1:33.43, good for 14th place. 
 
In the 100 backstroke, Jack Undercofler and Samuel Hughes placed 13th and 14th respectively. Undercofler clocked a personal-best time of 50.95 in the preliminaries, before finishing in 51.04 in the consolation final. Hughes shaved nearly two seconds off of his best time, clocking in at 51.05. 
 
William Sonne placed 17th in the 1,000 free with a personal-best time of 9:51.77.
