Alex Harter has been named an assistant baseball coach.
Middlebury has announced the hiring of Alex Harter as an assistant baseball coach. He comes to Middlebury from Driveline Baseball where he was an assistant within the academy and the under-18 head coach since 2020.
"I'm thrilled to welcome Alex to our coaching staff," Panther head coach
Mike Leonard said. "He brings a ton of knowledge and experience from his time at Driveline and from his playing and coaching career. He will be a great addition to our already outstanding coaching staff with
Mike Phelps and
Nick Andriole."
"I am extremely grateful to Coach Leonard for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the Middlebury community, athletic department and baseball program," Harter noted. "I look forward to getting back into coaching college baseball and being a part of this historic program and school."
Harter graduated from the University of Findlay in 2019 with a degree in marketing and finance. He was a four-year starting pitcher for the Division II Oilers and was named to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) All-Academic Team four times.
Upon graduation, he took over as the pitching coach at Findlay. Harter mentored an eventual Second-Team All-GMAC pitcher, who was second in the conference in total strikeouts.
In November 2020, Harter accepted a position at Driveline Baseball, where he directed his coaching efforts towards TRAQ and PULSE, focusing on information around player development and baseball data analytics.
