Middlebury Sixth At NESCAC Championships; Rieur Named Career High Point Diver

The Middlebury women's swimming and diving team placed sixth out of 11 teams at the 2022 NESCAC Championships. Colby hosted the four-day meet inside the Colby Aquatics Center. The Panthers scored 811 points, while Tufts took home its first title with 1,809 points. Williams (1,758.5 points) and Amherst (1,136 points) rounded out the top-three teams. Following the meet, Olivia Rieur was honored as the NESCAC Diving Career High Point Award winner.

Highlighting the night in the pool for the Panthers was Hannah Wander, who finished sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke with an NCAA 'B' cut and season-best time of 2:20.50. Teammate Bella Barragate stopped the clock in 17th with a time of 2:23.58 to earn points for Middlebury.

Additional top-20 finishes were recorded by Courtney Gantt who was 11th in the 100 free (52.04), while Julianna Haensly touched the wall 19th in the 200 back (2:07.61). Asa Stone finished 19th in the 200 butterfly (2:11.05), while teammate Hailey Vandenbosch was right behind in 20th (2:11.22). Each of those times were respective season-best marks.

On the 3-meter diving board, Rieur placed eighth with 372.10 points, while Kayla Schwartz earned 13th place amassing 311 points.

The 400 free relay team composed of Louise Hay, Isabella Caddeau, Chloe Katz and Gantt recorded a ninth-place finish with a time of 3:31.25 in the final event of the championship.
