Katz Shines On Day Three NESCAC Championships

Chloe Katz finished third in Saturday's 1,000 free.
The Middlebury women's swimming and diving team concluded Saturday's action in sixth place at the NESCAC Championships. Williams took over the team standings lead with 1,256.5 points, followed by Tufts (1,258), Amherst (793), Bates (735) and Bowdoin (649.5) The Panthers have amassed 643 points entering the final day. The team returns to action at the Colby Aquatic Center on Sunday morning with preliminaries starting at 10:00 a.m.

Highlighting Saturday's action for the Panthers was Chloe Katz, who swam to a third-place finish and earned All-NESCAC honors in the 1,000-yard freestyle. She concluded the event with a time of 10:14.13, lowering her previous season best by more than 40 seconds. Katz won the morning's preliminary heat with her time.

In the opening event of the night, the 200 medley relay of Isabella Caddeau, Hannah Wander, Maddie McKean and Courtney Gantt finished fifth with an NCAA 'B' cut time of 1:44.19.

Other top-10 efforts were recorded by Wander who was seventh in the 100 breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:05.95, while Bella Barragate was right behind in eighth at 1:06.52. The final event of the night saw Caddeau win the consolation final in the 100 back, touching the wall with a season-best time of 56.98.
