Caroline Arena earned a win at #4 against Bowdoin.
The seventh-seeded Middlebury women's squash team dropped a 9-0 decision Saturday morning to second-seeded Tufts in the NESCAC Quarterfinals hosted by Hamilton, before losing 7-2 to sixth-seeded Bowdoin in the consolation round. The Panthers will return to action on Sunday at 9:30 a.m., taking on the host and eighth-seeded Continentals in the seventh-place match.Â

In the first competition of the day against Tufts, the Jumbos posted three-game victories in six of the nine ladder spots. In the top slot,
Abby Holding dropped a hard-fought five-game match (9-11, 5-11, 14-12, 11-6, 11-5), while
Ideal Dowling (11-3, 7-11, 11-8, 11-7) and
Caroline Arena (9-11, 13-11, 11-9, 11-2) each claimed a game in the third and fourth positions, respectively.

Later in the day versus Bowdoin, Arena gave the Panthers the initial point with an 11-6, 12-10, 11-9 triumph in the fourth slot. Tied at 1-1, Dowling regained the lead for Middlebury with a narrow 11-8, 7-11, 11-9, 4-11, 13-11 victory at #3.

Bowdoin earned the last six points of the match for the final 7-2 decision.
