The Middlebury men's indoor track and field team finished in fourth in the field of eight teams at the Middlebury Field & Track Meet on Saturday in Virtue Field House. The Panthers earned 75.5 points, with Merrimack (169.5), Amherst (105) and Rensselaer (103) in the top three spots.
The distance medley relay got the Panthers off to a fast start, winning the opening event with a time of 10:35.86. Combining for the top time were Alexander Kessler, Johnny LaFortune, Noah Whiting and Ryan Devine. Devine and Whiting were also part of the first place 4x800, along with Douglas Rosin and Liam Hoagland, as the quartet posted a clocking of 8:28.93.
The Panthers had a pair of second-place finishes with Peter Burke running a time of 4:28.87 in the mile and Diego Rey finishing the 3,000m in 9:04.70.
Daniel Brey claimed third in the 35-pound weight throw with a toss of 45'7".
