The Middlebury ski teams placed fourth at the Dartmouth Carnival with 579 points. The University of Vermont took top honors with 951 points, while Dartmouth (797) edged the University of New Hampshire (798) for second place. Due to schedule changes, the Saturday slalom events were doubled to factor into the final scores.
The Panthers return home next weekend to host the Middlebury Carnival at the Snow Bowl (alpine) and Rikert Nordic Center (Nordic).
The alpine women were phenomenal on Saturday in the slalom, with all three scorers placing in the top-10.
Lucia Bailey finished in seventh with a two-run time of 1:41.10, while
Sofia Yubero was right behind in eighth with a combined clocking of 1:41.15.
Sarah Brown completed her two strips down the mountain in 1:41.28 in her collegiate debut, while
Mika-Anne Reha was right behind in 11th (1:41.34).
On the men's side,
Holden Parazette placed 18th with a two-run clocking of 1:41.
Will Trudeau finished with a combined time of 2:00.57.
Peter Wolter led the men's Nordic squad in the 10K freestyle, placing second with a time of 26:10.7. Logan Moore finished in 12th with a clocking of 27:44.2, while Will Nemeth was two spots back in 14th (27:50.7).
On the women's side, Avery Ellis paced the Panthers with a 19th-place finish, covering the 10K freestyle course in 34:31.9. Quincy Massey-Bierman was next for Middlebury with a time of 36:17.2, while Charlotte Ogden rounded out the scorers with a clocking of 36:21.8.
