The Middlebury women's swimming and diving team sits in fifth place out of 11 teams following the first full day of competition at the NESCAC Championships. Tufts is first with 722 points, followed by Williams (703.5), Amherst (516), Bowdoin (422.5) and the Panthers (412). The teams return to the pool at the Colby Aquatic Center on Saturday morning with prelims beginning at 10:00 a.m.
In the 50-yard backstroke,
Isabella Caddeau finished in fourth place with a personal best time of 26.36.
Courtney Gantt placed sixth in the 50 butterfly with a personal best time of 25.56.
Chloe Katz had an NCAA 'B' Cut and personal record time of 4:59.83 in the 500 freestyle, placing seventh in the finals.
The 400 medley relay quartet of Caddeau, Hanah Wander, Gantt and
Asa Stone touched the wall in 3:51.86 which was good for sixth place.
Bella Barragate and Wander advanced to the finals in the 50-yard breaststroke, placing seventh (30.06) and eighth (30.17), respectively.
Zoe Tray finished 10th overall in the event with a time of 30.11 in the consolation finals. All three times were personal records for the Panthers.
Olivia Rieur finished in ninth place overall with 333.55 points off the 1-meter board.
Gantt and Caddeau teamed up with

Lily Siemasko in the 200 free relay, placing seventh with a time of 1:36.86.
