800 Free Relays Compete On Day One of NESCAC Championships

The Middlebury women's swimming and diving team kicked off the 2022 NESCAC Championships on Thursday evening, competing in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Colby is serving as the host of the four-day meet inside the Colby Aquatics Center. Tufts leads the team standings following the opening night with 86 points, while Williams (82), Amherst (70) and Connecticut College (70) round out the top-four teams. Middlebury sits in seventh place with 56 points.

In the fourth and final heat of the evening, the Panther team of Louise Hay, Julianna Haensly, Avery Maxwell and Chloe Katz swam to a sixth-place finish with a time of 7:39.99 for 48 team points. A few heats earlier, the Middlebury team of Grace Brady, Haley Hutchinson, Kate Wohl and Madeline Hiller touched with a time of 7:58.55.

Competition resumes on Friday morning with preliminaries at 10:00 a.m., followed by diving at 2:00 p.m. and the finals of the nine morning events at 6:00 p.m.
