#23 Men’s Squash Victorious Over Hobart and Wesleyan

Alexis Ballo scored two victories on Saturday.
The #23 Middlebury men's squash team started the day with a 6-3 victory over #24 Hobart, before sweeping Wesleyan 9-0 in the afternoon. The Panthers remain unbeaten through four matches, which is the best start in program history.
 
HIGHLIGHTS VS HOBART
  • PK Keller began the day with a three-game victory in the #5 spot (11-6, 11-8, 11-9), giving Middlebury an early 1-0 edge.
  • Hobart picked up its first win of the day in the third slot, edging the Panthers in a tight five-game affair.
  • In the #7 spot, Julian Sandoval battled and earned a five-game win (11-7, 10-12, 11-5, 8-11, 11-4) to increase the Panther lead to 2-1.
  • Kian Kardestuncer eased to a three-game triumph (11-3, 11-6, 11-3) at the #6 to extend the lead to 3-1. 
  •  Hobart earned a 3-1 decision in the second spot, but Will Quigley scored a five-game victory at the #9 (11-9, 7-11, 11-5, 7-11, 11-5).
  • The Statesmen moved to within one (4-3) following a three-game win at the #1, but Theo Kogan sealed the victory for the Panthers, securing the fifth point in the middle of the ladder (11-4, 15-13, 12-14, 8-11, 11-2).
  • Alexis Ballo closed out the match, taking the last game 16-14, 11-6, 10-12, 11-4 in the #8 spot.
HIGHLIGHTS VS WESLEYAN
  • Caleb Boateng began the afternoon by easing to a three-game win in the #3 slot (11-2, 11-2, 11-4). 
  • Sandoval, Kardestuncer, and Ballo also secured 3-0 sweeps, going 2-0 on the day. 
  • After dropping the first game, Keller bounced back to claim a come-from-behind victory in the middle of the ladder (10-12, 11-1, 11-7, 7-11, 13-11).
  • Will Lichstein clinched the win for the Panthers, picking up a four-game victory at the second spot (11-3, 11-4, 10-12, 13-11). 
  • Quigley, Feinstein and Kogan were also victorious, each earning four-game victories to close out the 9-0 win.
NOTES
  • Middlebury and Hobart squared off for the fifth time and the first since 2016-17. The Panthers are 5-0 in that span.
  • With the win over Wesleyan, Middlebury leads the all-time series 11-1 and has claimed the last 10 matches.
