Women’s Swimming & Diving Slips Past Pride 154-146

Isabel Pentony scored a victory in 50 backstroke.
The Middlebury women's swimming and diving team defeated Springfield 154-146 on Saturday to close out competition for the first semester.
 
HIGHLIGHTS  
  • Katie Cantrell scored a victory by taking first place in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:20.50.
  • Chloe Katz registered a pair of triumphs on the day, winning both the 200 (2:00.70) and 500 freestyle (5:19.60). 
  • Isabel Pentony won the 50 backstroke, stopping the clock at 28.61.
  • Off the diving board, Lia Smith was victorious in both the one-meter and three-meter events, scoring 224.85 and 268.29 points, respectively.
  • In the 100 individual medley, Elise Scott dominated the competition, finishing with a time of 1:01.69 to earn the triumph.
  • Maddy Reid also secured a win in the 100 backstroke, touching the wall at 1:00.95.
NOTES
  • Smith's two diving wins were the first of her collegiate career.
