#17 Women’s Squash Posts 7-2 Victory Over #24 Hamilton In Season Opener

Abby Holding posted a three-game victory in the top spot.
The #17 Middlebury women's squash team posted five three-game victories on its way to a 7-2 triumph over 24th-ranked Hamilton in the season-opening match for the Panthers.  
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Trailing 2-0 after the Continentals earned wins at #9 and #6, Lindsey Burnham started the Panther run of seven-straight victories with an 11-1, 11-7, 11-5 win at #2 for her first win in a Panther uniform. 
  • Abby Holding posted a three-game triumph in the top slot of the ladder (11-3, 11-3, 11-7) to level the match at 2-2. 
  • Evan Weiss gave Middlebury the lead for good with a narrow 13-11, 11-7, 11-5 win in the eighth slot.
  • Abbie Peterson battled back from a 2-1 deficit to earn her first collegiate win in five games in the middle of the lineup (9-11, 11-8, 12-14, 18-16, 11-9).
  • Izzy Ronda cruised past her opponent in the third position (11-6, 11-5, 11-4) to earn her first collegiate win, while Firadus Shallo posted an 11-2, 12-10, 11-5 victory at #7 to push the Panther lead to 6-2.
  • Margaux Comai completed the scoring and claimed the seventh team point, tallying an 11-6, 9-11, 11-6, 11-6 triumph in the fourth slot for her first victory in the blue and white.  
NOTES
  • Middlebury's victory was the fifth-straight season-opening triumph.
