Panthers Open Season With Dominant 198-82 Victory Over Camels

The Middlebury women's swimming and diving team recorded a resounding 198-82 triumph over Connecticut College to begin its campaign. The victory was head coach Bob Rueppel's 200th career win on the women's side, having eclipsed 100 with the men last season. The Panthers won 15 of 16 events to earn their second-straight win over the Camels.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The women won both relays of the meet. Maddy Reid, Zoe Tray, Elise Scott and Hannah Baumgartner took the top spot in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:49.37.Lily Siemasko, Louise Hay, Julianna Haensly and Baumgartner were victorious in the 200 freestyle, stopping the clock in 1:40.03.
  • Baumgartner and Scott each registered a pair of individual triumphs. Baumgartner topped the leaderboard in both the 100 and 200 freestyle races, while Scott finished first in the 100 butterfly and the 200 individual medley (IM). 
  • Chloe Katz picked up wins in the 500 and 1000 free, clocking in at 5:20.41 and 10:58.79, respectively. 
  • Off the diving board, Pai Easterbrook won the three meter event, scoring 175.5 points, while Giulia Shaughnessy was victorious in the one meter event with a final score of 179.1 points.
  • Zoe Tray finished first in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, stopping the clock at 1:08.71 and 2:29.11.
  • Isabel Pentony won the 200 backstroke by over four seconds, touching the wall in 2:08.77.
NOTES
  • Pentony, Baumgartner, Easterbrook and Scott each secured wins in their first collegiate events.
