Panthers Win B Draw & A Consolation At NEWITT

Box Score The Middlebury women's tennis team had a strong showing at the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament (NEWITT), winning the B Draw and the A consolation. 
 
TOURNAMENT INFO
  • The NEWITT format is unique, featuring teams of two or three from the competing schools. Each round of play features two singles and one doubles match, and the team that wins two of the three moves on in each round. 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • In the A draw, Claudia Miller and Brinlea La Barge made up a team and went on to claim the consolation finals. The pair received a bye in the first round of the consolation, swept all three matches in the semifinals against a tandem from MIT, and won two of three against Williams to claim the title. 
  • Sahana Raman and Lulu Wu also teamed up in the A draw, sweeping both singles and doubles matches in the opening round against MIT. During quarterfinal action against Wesleyan, Raman claimed a singles point (7-5, 2-6, 12-10) and the pair won 8-4 in doubles to advance, before falling in the semifinals.
  • Amanda Frank and Anna Lardner captured the B draw crown. The Panther duo swept all 12 matches they played en route to the trophy.
