Women’s Golf Places Third At NEIGA Championship

Katie Murphy was Middlebury's top scorer at the NEIGA Championship.
The Middlebury women's golf team finished in third place at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship, firing in a two day score of 624. Williams, ranked 12th nationally, won the event with a total score of 609, while #14 Amherst finished just behind  with a two-day score of 611.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Katie Murphy led the Panthers on the weekend, finishing in fifth place overall. During her two rounds, Murphy posted a total of 152 (78-74). Murphy's two-over par on Sunday featured an even round through the front nine, which included a birdie on the par-three second hole.
  • Audrey Tir fired a two-day score of 154 (75-79), and finished just behind Murphy, in a tie for seventh overall. Tir totaled four birdies overall, three of which were in her opening round.
  • The Panthers had three players finish in a tie for 20th, recording two-day totals of 162. Elizabeth Kenter ended her weekend with scores of 79 and 83, which included one birdie, on the par-four ninth hole on day two.
  • Kayla Li improved her day one score of 85 by eight strokes on Sunday, tallying two birdies in her second round.
  • Maddy Cordeiro rounded out the scorers for Middlebury. She finished with an overall score of 162 (80-82), posting a birdie on the 11th hole on Sunday.
