McGarrity Wins Medalist Honors, Team Finishes Runner-Up At NEIGA Championship

Sean McGarrity earned medalist honors with a two-day score of 141.
Sean McGarrity fired a three-under par 141, including an impressive round of 69 on Sunday, to earn medalist honors during the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Men's Golf Championship. McGarrity's effort led the Panthers to a second-place team finish, posting a two-day score of 588. Babson, ranked 15th nationally, recorded a score of 579 to win the team title. Amherst (597), Tufts (601) and Williams (601) rounded out the top-six teams in the tightly-contested tournament.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • McGarrity posted a 72 in the first round, highlighted by a hole-in-one on the par-three fifth hole and added a birdie on the par-four fourth. He followed that performance with five birdies in the second round, including four on the back nine to earn the medalist honors.
  • Colin McCaigue fired a two-day score of 145, including a 71 on Saturday, to finish in sixth place. He recorded four birdies in the opening round, concluding his tournament with two more during Sunday's back nine on the two par-five holes. 
  • Phin Choukas finished in a tie for 28th with a score of 151 (75-76). Choukas birdied the ninth hole in his first round, followed by birdies on three holes on the last day. 
  • Anthony King finished just one stroke behind with a two-day score of 152 (79-73) to tie for 32nd place. King tallied five birdies on the weekend, highlighted by two in Saturday's back nine and Sunday's front nine.
  • Hogan Beazley was Middlebury's final scorer, finishing in a tie for 40th, with a two-day score of 155 (80-75). Beazley concluded his tournament with seven overall birdies, including three in a four-hole stretch during his final nine holes.
