The 25th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team (2-5) bounced back from a tough loss earlier in the week to top #25 Navy (10-5) by a score of 6-3 on Sunday. The Panthers travel to #17 Amherst on Wednesday for a 4:30 p.m. matchup.
Teddy Best gave Middlebury its first point of the day, and earned his 20th career win, in the top spot with a close four-set match (14-12, 11-13, 11-6, 11-8).
Nate Moll tallied the next point, edging his opponent in a five-set thriller (8-11, 11-5, 11-7, 7-11, 11-5) at #4.
Navy made it a 3-1 match when it claimed a victory in the seventh slot, but the Panthers won two straight after that to secure the triumph.
Julian Sandoval was victorious at #5 (6-11, 12-10, 11-5, 16-14) and
Liam Patty clinched the match with his first win (11-8, 7-11, 11-9, 11-7) of the season in the ninth spot.
Other victories came from
Alexis Ballo at #6 (12-10, 7-11, 11-5, 11-8) and
Nathan Feinstein in the second spot (6-11, 11-8, 11-3, 4-11, 13-11).
