The Middlebury men's track and field team won 13 of 16 events, opening the 2021 outdoor season with a 93-53 dual-meet victory over visiting Union on Saturday. Seven members of the team traveled to Tufts for a Quad meet against NESCAC schools. The Panthers did not score as a team, at that meet, but all seven athletes placed in the top-10 in their respective events. The Panthers are back at Dragone Field on May 8, hosting Hamilton.

The team traditionally competes in invitationals and have not competed in a dual meet since a 102-88 victory at Springfield on April 5, 2014.

Middlebury opened the meet winning the first relay, as the quartet of Nadji Ngbokoli, Matthew Durst, Finn Warner and Aaron Tobias combined for a top time of 43.54 seconds in the 4x100.

Arden Coleman was a double winner for the Panthers, crossing the finish line first in the 200 meters (22.89) and the 400 (49.72).

Tobias added a first-place effort in the 100 meters with a time of 11.33 seconds, while Liam Hoagland won the 1,500 (4:08.17) and Douglas Rosin topped the field in the 5,000 (15:59.53).

Middlebury shined in the field events with seven first-place finishes, including each of the four throws. Zack Sieb won the discus (45.20m), Nathaniel Klein had the top heave in the shot put (13.14m), Daniel Brey was first in the hammer (44.86) and Lucas Donavan-Lafuente produced a best toss of 41.80m in the javelin.

Max Memeger sailed a distance of 6.46 meters for first place in the long jump, while Francis Price cleared 1.79 meters in the high jump to claim the top spot. In the pole vault, Will Behm had a winning height of 3.95 meters.

At Tufts, Max Cluss crossed the finish line first in a field of 15 with a winning time of 1:54 in the 800 meters. Quinlan McGaugh placed second in the 1,500, clocking in at 3:54.00, just one second behind the top-runner.
