Middlebury's
Evan Hunter hit a walk-off home run in game two as the Panthers earned a doubleheader split with Hamilton (4-7, 4-7) Saturday afternoon on Forbes Field. The visitors took game one 11-0, before Middlebury (1-5, 1-5) earned a 7-6 victory in the nightcap. The Panthers return to action next Saturday with a pair of games at Amherst beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Hamilton jumped on the board with five runs in the first inning of game one, two of them earned. Shane Dux and Jay Schlaefer each delivered two-run singles to put the visitors on top.

Brady Slinger highlighted a six-run third inning for the Continentals, driving in three with a double to left and an 11-0 lead.

Charlie Kutz (0-2) suffered the loss for the Panthers, going 2.1 innings.

Tyler Leinan each had hits for the Panthers.

Gavin Schaefer-Hood (2-2) picked up the win, tossing a complete-game shutout with seven strikeouts. Slinger and Phil Bernstein each went 2-4 with two runs scored as Slinger drove in three. Dux was 2-3 with two runs scored and two driven in, while Jackson Sattinger and Schlaefer both had a pair of hits.

In game two, Middlebury took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run single to left by
Mitchell Schroeder.

Jack Griffin doubled down the left-field line in the third inning for Hamilton, later scoring on a sacrifice fly to right by Ethan Harrast. The Continentals tied the game in the fourth with an RBI double from Sattinger.

The Panthers answered in the bottom half of the frame with four runs, taking a 6-2 lead.
Jack Torpey drove in a pair with a double to left that one-hopped the fence. One batter later, Hunter delivered a two-run single up the middle.

Hamilton battled back in the sixth with four runs on four hits. Two RBI ground outs and a run-scoring single to center by Phil Bernstein cut the lead to 6-5. Harrast tied the game with a double to left center, plating Bernstein.

Hunter led off the bottom of the seventh, ripping a line shot home run over the left-field fence for the 7-6 victory.

Ethan Gavin (1-1) earned the victory with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. Starter
Henry Gustavson allowed one earned run over four innings with a pair of strikeouts.
Andrew Ashley and Torpey were each 2-3 in the game.
