The Middlebury women's swimming and diving team hosted Amherst in its home opener on Saturday. The Panthers fell 194-103 to the 14th-ranked Mammoths. Middlebury wraps up first semester competition on Saturday at Springfield.
The Panthers won the 200-yard medley relay, edging out Amherst's top team by .14 seconds to open the meet. The team of Isabella Caddeau, Zoe Tray, Audrey Hsi and Courtney Gantt clocked in with a time of 1:46.82.
Caddeau also won the 100 backstroke, stopping the clock in 57.41. She bested her time from a week ago by over three seconds.
Hannah Wander recorded a pair of second-place finishes, touching the wall in 2:25.51 in the 200 backstroke and clocking in at 1:06.03 in the 100 back.
