The Middlebury women's soccer team scored a goal late in each half on Saturday en route to a 2-0 NESCAC victory over 21st-ranked Connecticut College. The second-ranked Panthers (6-0-1, 3-0-1) are right back on the field hosting New England College Sunday at noon, while the Camels (6-1-0, 3-1-0) travel to Williams at the same time.

Midway through the opening half, the visitors possessed the ball deep in the Middlebury end of the field and earned a corner kick taken by Bella Patino. Following the kick, Tori Kretzmer directed a shot at the Panther goal that was hauled in by keeper Ursula Alwang.

Middlebury struck for its first goal with 3:52 remaining before the half. Gretchen McGrath received a short touch pass from Ellie Greenberg, before chipping a shot into the right corner of the net. The hosts nearly doubled the lead in the final seconds, but had a score waived off due to an offside call.

Conn. College had a good scoring chance 12 minutes into the second stanza, as Mya Johnson had a shot from 10 yards out that was collected by Alwang. The hosts iced the victory late in the frame when the Camels were pressing forward. McGrath corralled a clearing attempt and rolled the ball into the vacated net with 1:40 left on the clock for the 2-0 final.

In goal for the Middlebury, Alwang finished with a pair of saves to tie her for the NESCAC lead with three shutouts, giving her 21 for her career. Connecticut College's Katy Pelletier registered two stops. Middlebury held a 17-7 margin in shots and took four of the contest's six corner kicks.

Conn. College entered the game as one of 11 programs that were undefeated in Division III.
