Men's Squash Edges No. 19 MIT in Regular-Season Finale

The Middlebury men's squash team posted a 5-4 victory on Saturday over 19th-ranked MIT in its regular-season finale at the Bostwick Family Squash Center. With the win, the 18th-ranked Panthers improve to 13-5 and return to action at the CSA Team Championships from February 15-17 at Yale.

In the win over the Engineers (13-7), the visitors claimed the initial point with a five-game victory at the bottom of the ladder. The hosts responded with five-game triumphs by William Cembalest at No. 3 against Henry Martin (13-15, 8-11, 11-6, 11-9, 11-1), followed by Teddy Best in the sixth position over Keith Lamp (11-6, 11-6, 10-12, 7-11, 12-10) for a 2-1 advantage.

The Panthers increased their lead to 3-1 with a five-game victory by Wiatt Hinton at No. 8 over Neel Daas (9-11, 11-6, 6-11, 11-4, 11-4), while Jacob Ellen gave Middlebury a 4-1 edge with an 11-2, 8-11, 5-11, 11-8, 11-7 victory over Joe O'Connor in the second slot.

The Engineers moved to within 4-2 behind a three-game victory in the middle of the lineup. John Epley tallied the match-clinching fifth point for Middlebury at No. 7, besting Brad Levin in four games (8-11, 11-4, 11-5, 11-9).

MIT was victorious in five games at No. 4 and No. 1 for the final 5-4 score.
