Men's Squash Edges No. 15 Brown For Seventh-Straight Win

The 18th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team earned a hard-fought 5-4 victory over 15th-ranked Brown on Saturday for its seventh-consecutive win. The match was contested in Harvard's Murr Center. The Panthers (9-2) return to the court on Friday when they travel to 25th-ranked Dickinson for a 6:00 p.m. match.

Brown (3-5) took the early lead with a three-game victory at No. 9. Middlebury responded with four-straight victories, each coming in three games. Jacob Ellen defeated Declan McCarthy in the third slot (11-5, 11-6, 11-5), while Nick Bermingham edged Nick Pitaro at No. 6 (11-9, 15-13, 11-6). John Epley put Middlebury ahead 3-1 with a 13-11, 11-6, 11-5 triumph over Benjamin Caraballo in the eighth position, while Wiatt Hinton defeated William Glaser at No. 7 (11-3, 11-6, 11-9) at No. 7 for a 4-1 Panther lead.

The Bears grabbed a five-game victory in the middle of the ladder, followed by a four-game win at No. 2 to pull to within 4-3.

Jack Kagan clinched the match for Middlebury, battling back from a 2-0 deficit for a 9-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-2, 12-10 win at No. 4 against Philip Demeulenaere. Brown recorded a five-game win atop the lineup for the 5-4 final score.
