The Middlebury men's squash team eased past host Amherst on Friday afternoon by a 7-2 score. The 20th-ranked Panthers (4-2) return to competition on Saturday when they host No. 23 Bowdoin at 12:30 p.m., followed by 25th-ranked Colby at 6:00 p.m.

In the win over the Mammoths (2-3), the visitors jumped on the scoreboard first with a four-game victory by Jacob Ellen over Charlie Sutherby at No. 2 (11-7, 11-8, 4-11, 13-11). Amherst responded with a four-game triumph in the sixth spot, tying the score at 1-1.

The Panthers tallied the next six matches to finish. Nate Moll outlasted Christopher Zimmerman at No. 8 in five games (11-9, 14-16, 4-11, 11-6, 11-4), while Nick Bermingham edged Mohammad Harith Khawaja in the fourth slot (9-11, 11-6, 13-11, 14-12) for a 3-1 Panther advantage.

Thomas Wolpow pushed the lead to 4-1 via a three-game triumph at No. 9 against Reginald Brewster (18-16, 11-6, 11-7), while Justin Ghaeli clinched the match with a three-game win atop the ladder over Terrance Wang (11-5, 11-6, 11-5).

Teddy Best made the score 6-1 with a three-game victory against Robert Parker at No. 5 (11-8, 11-8, 11-5), before Jack Kagan bested Robinson Armour in four games (11-5, 12-10, 7-11, 11-7) in the third position.

The Mammoths rounded out the scoring with a five-game win at No. 7 for the final 7-2 score.
