#21 Middlebury Edged in Summers Cup Semis by #17 Dickinson

The 21st-ranked Middlebury men's squash team fell by a 6-3 tally to #17 Dickinson on Saturday in the Summers Cup semifinals at the CSA Men's Squash Team Championship. The event is being hosted by Trinity at the Kellner Squash Center. The Panthers (8-12) return to action Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the 19th/20th-place match against #18 Bates. Middlebury squared off with the Bobcats earlier this season on January 12 in a match played at Maine, claiming a narrow 5-4 decision over the hosts.

The two teams split the first six matches to finish on Saturday evening. John Epley gave Middlebury a 1-0 advantage with an 11-8, 5-11, 12-10, 12-10 victory at #6 against Alex Wattles. Dickinson leveled the score at 1-1 via a five-game win at the bottom of the ladder.

The Panthers regained the lead when Jack Kagan was victorious over Hal Holappa at #3 (10-12, 11-7, 11-9, 12-10), but the Red Devils evened the match again with a five-game triumph in the eighth position.

Dickinson (11-8) took its first lead of the night with a four-game victory at #2, but Middlebury's Wiatt Hinton made the score 3-3 with an 11-5, 11-7, 11-13, 11-6 win against Cory Litman at #5.

The Red Devils finished the match with three victories at #7, #1 and #4 for the 6-3 decision.
