Men's Squash Drops Home Contest to #15 Cornell

The 19th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team fell by a 6-3 score to #15 Cornell on Sunday in the team's final home match. The Panthers (5-5) return to action on Friday when they play at #22 MIT beginning at 5:00 p.m.

During Sunday's match with the Big Red (5-6), Middlebury jumped out to a 3-0 lead with victories at #6, #9 and #3. John Epley defeated Seb Obieta-Chichizola by scores of 12-10, 11-5 and 11-8 in the sixth position, while William Kurth bested James Paoletta in the ninth spot in four games (11-7, 11-6, 6-11, 11-5).

Jack Kagan put the Panthers up by three with a five-game triumph over Jordan Brail at #3. Kagan won the first two games before Brail drew even with wins in games three and four. Kagan earned the point for the hosts with a victory in the decisive fifth game (12-10, 11-2, 6-11, 9-11, 11-5).

The visitors rattled off six-consecutive wins during the remaining matches for the 6-3 victory.
