Box Score The Middlebury women's soccer team netted a season-high five goals, as the Panthers posted a 5-0 non-conference triumph Wednesday at Keene State. (5-3-0). Middlebury (4-2-1) returns to NESCAC action Saturday, hosting Colby at 11:00 a.m.
The Panthers went on the offensive from right from the opening kickoff. Sabrina Glaser fired a shot on goal 23 seconds into the game, forcing Owl keeper Abbie Terrinca to make a diving save going to her right. Just over a minute later on a play that started on a corner kick, Virginia Charman collected a loose ball inside the penalty area a lofted a shot over Terrinca for her first tally of the season.
The Panthers doubled the lead with 27:55 remaining in the half, again taking advantage of a corner kick. Amanda Dafonte sent the kick into the penalty where Alissa Huntington one-touched a rebound under the cross bar. The difference grew to 3-0 only 2:51 later, as Clare Robinson netted her second of the year on an assist from Glaser.
Glaser opened the scoring in the second half, tapping in a rebound on shot taken by Alex Barber 5:12 into the fresh stanza. Charman closed out the game, netting her second of the contest with an assist from Ellie Greenberg with 3:26 left.
Middlebury's Eva Shaw played the opening half in goal for the Panthers and finished with three saves, while Ursula Alwang made four stops in the final 45 minutes as the duo shared the shutout. Terrinca collected five saves for the Owls as Middlebury held a 20-10 advantage in shots.
