For the second time in as many days, Middlebury's Jed Sass scored the lone goal of the match at 54:32, leading Middlebury to a 1-0 NESCAC win Sunday over visiting Hamilton. The Panthers (4-1-0, 2-1-0) travel to Keene State for a non-conference match on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., while Hamilton (3-2-1, 1-2-0) is on the road Saturday at Connecticut College.

In the opening half, scoring chances were hard to come by. The lone opportunity of the stanza came from Hamilton in the 14th minute. A shot by Aidan Wood from eight yards away was denied by Middlebury goalkeeper Jeremy Yeager. The rebound caromed off to the left of Yeager, but he saved the subsequent attempt from point-blank range by Jefri Schmidt to keep the match scoreless.

After the intermission, the Continentals nearly got on the board in the 50th minute. Wood sent a bending ball from the right 15 yards away, but Yeager made a diving save toward the far post punching the chance away.

A little more than five minutes later, the hosts recorded the lone goal of the match. A bouncing loose ball in the penalty area found the foot of Sass, who rifled a shot from 10 yards out that hit the right post. The rebound came back to him at the six-yard line before he calmly tapped it in.

The Continentals pushed forward late looking for the equalizer, but the Panther defense secured the victory.

For the match, Middlebury doubled up the Continentals in shots (10-5), while Hamilton held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.

Yeager (4-1-0) finished with four saves for his second-straight shutout, while Linds Caldwell (3-2-1) tallied three stops for the visitors.
