The 18th-ranked Panther men's squash team split a pair of matches during the NESCAC Tournament on Saturday hosted by Amherst. After receiving a bye through the first round, fourth-seeded Middlebury recorded a 9-0 win in the quarterfinals over #5 seed and 23rd-ranked Colby before falling to top-seeded and second-ranked Trinity, 9-0. The Panthers (9-8) return to play on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the third-place match against #3 seed and 17th-ranked Williams.

In the win over Colby, eight of Middlebury's nine victories came in three games. Wins were posted by Wyatt French at #1 (11-3, 11-7, 11-7), Jacob Ellen in the #2 slot (11-6, 11-8, 11-4), Andrew Cadienhead at #3 (11-9, 11-3, 11-3) and William Cembalest in the fourth spot (11-7, 11-4, 11-5). Jack Kagan kept things rolling with a victory at #5 (11-5, 12-10, 11-5), while Ben Krant dropped just nine total points in his win at #6 (11-3, 11-3, 11-3).

Robert Rohrbach at #7 (11-4, 11-1, 11-9) and William Kurth in the eighth place of the ladder (12-10, 11-8, 12-10) made it eight-straight wins, while Nick Bermingham dropped the first game to his opponent before completing the sweep in four games (7-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-1).

Against Trinity, Kagan took a game from his opponent at #5, as the Bantams won each of the other eight matches in three games.
