The 17th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team captured the Summers Cup for the sixth time in the last nine years after a 6-3 victory on Sunday morning over #19 Virginia at the CSA Team Championships. The matches were played in Harvard's Murr Squash Center Courts. The Panthers finish the season ranked 17th-nationally with an overall record of 13-8, winners of four-consecutive matches to conclude the season.

The Panthers and Cavaliers split the first four matches to finish. Middlebury's wins came from Ben Krant in three games at #6 (11-5, 13-11, 11-8) and Nick Bermingham in the ninth spot (10-12, 12-10, 11-7, 7-11, 11-9). Sandwiched between the Panther triumphs were Virginia wins at #3 and #5, respectively.

Middlebury grabbed a 4-2 lead via a three-game victory from William Kurth at #8 (11-3, 11-8, 11-9) as well as a marathon five-game win in the #2 spot on the ladder from Jacob Ellen (15-17, 11-9, 12-10, 10-12, 11-7).

After a win at #7 for the Cavaliers brought them back to within one, Middlebury's William Cembalest clinched the fifth team point and the Cup with a four-game victory at #4 (2-11, 13-11, 11-7, 11-8). Wyatt French completed the scoring, outlasting his opponent in five games atop the ladder (10-12, 11-6, 5-11, 12-10, 11-2), giving the Panthers a 6-3 victory.

Selected individuals will compete from March 3-5 at the CSA Individual Championships hosted by Dartmouth.
